CAMP WORKSHOPS, COMMUNITY AND CURRICULUM:

• Youth will be broken up into age sets and given an African tribal identity to represent, such as the Massai, Fulani and Ashanti. Counselors will challenge the youth to discover the beauty of their ancestry and will provide interesting background info on each tribe to support the exploration.

• We will develop a youth council and create an action plan for community projects that the youth want to address

• We will host 5 film nights, and 3 youth forums to discuss complex social and personal issues

• We will teach the youth craft skills such as beading, crocheting, and painting that can be translated into income generating activities. We will support these activities with simultaneous entrepreneurial brainstorming sessions and future fundraising festivals

• We will create team arts projects, to encourage team building skills and for the youth to showcase during the closing camp ceremonies

• We will provide holistic cooking and farming workshops to educate the youth on the value of eating healthy and using locally produced food products

• We will create art out of recycled materials and establish collective camp behavior that emphasizes the value of eco conservation

• We will provide a space for exploration and self expression and we will celebrate the joy of youth
