RIP MC is the official resident poet for the Lil Raggamuffin Summer Camp and this Thursday (June 4) we will be passing around a bucket at the Poetry Party to help raise funds to bring his style of poetry to our likkle yute dem.
Dub poetry as it is known down a yard is a major part of Jamaican culture --- starting back in the 80's. Lyricist would spit rhythemic poetry over heavy dub beats and the art form was born. Last year we had a talent show during the closing ceremonies for the camp and
I was amazed to see how many of the children had created their own spoken word poems and how confidently they were able to express them up on stage infront of their peers and family. This year RIP MC will be working with the campers to help them perfect their craft and develop more vocabulary to express themselves.
So please Come Out this Thursday and Show your support.
